New Year’s resolutions have kicked off, and for many, this may mean prioritising home maintenance and tackling cleaning chores. However, consistent cleaning can end up becoming a time-consuming task.
Luckily, several Reddit users have shared their speedy top tips for keeping on top of cleaning in just “two minutes”.
User Adelaideanne said: “If I have the time and there is a task that needs to be done that will take less than two minutes, I do it.
“For example, if there are cups scattered around the house that need to be washed I’ll go around and gather them up and put them in the sink.
“Or if there is laundry on the floor in various rooms I will go put them in the hamper.
“It’s amazing how many two minute tasks there are around the house, and by doing them as you come across them it’s easy to make the house neat and tidy without setting out with the intention of cleaning.”
A second user, Milagrochan said: “I do this every night when I get home from work.
“Gives me time to do the dishes, clean the litter box, clean the toilet bowl and the counters, and clean off the couches and coffee table.
“After that, I can actually feel like I can relax. It really works.”

Other users recommend putting in a little extra time, between 10 and 15 minutes per day, to tackle home maintenance chores.
Reddit user Midnight_Flowers said: “I suggest doing 10 minutes per room.
“That way you can get more done but the small increments make it fun and seem like it’s less time.”
The key to speed cleaning is only taking on tasks that you know can be completed within the allotted time.
One user added that this was “the best tip they have ever learned”.
They said: “Set aside 10 minutes every night to do some cleaning. I mean it. 10 minutes only.
“Set a timer and clean until the dinger goes off.
“You’ll be surprised how much you can get done in that time – picking things up, cleaning the toilet or wiping off the sink really quick, throwing dirty clothes in the hamper, emptying the dishwasher, whatever.”
