Simple mistake means drivers are being charged up to 500% more for airport parking – here’s how to avoid it

YOU could be spending as much as 500% more for airport parking when you don't need to.

With a bit of planning, you could be saving a huge amount of money at airports up and down Britain.

In a study conducted by Car Lease Special Offers, it was found that paying for parking on the day means drivers are spending a massive amount more.

Simply heading online and booking in advance will make a huge difference to the cost.

The study looked at parking quotes for a week-long stay (Wednesday 5pm till Wednesday 5pm).

Each pricing quote was for a month in advance of the travel dates, to see which UK airport would give the best deal.

The biggest saving is at Manchester Airport, where the study found that booking in advance for a week's parking costs around £84.

However, turning up on the day and paying for a week will cost as much as £406. That's £302 more.

Meanwhile Birmingham Airport charges £68.99 for a pre-booked week but £343 for an on-the-day week costing you £274 extra.

The cheapest airport in the study was Belfast, where a pre-booked weeks costs £39.99 and a week's ticket on the day £65.
