Premium Bonds: NS&I customers told not to do this – are you aware of the warning?

With the start of the new month just around the corner, many will likely be getting set to find out whether they’ve been selected for a prize in the latest Premium Bonds draw. As the countdown to the July 2020 prize draw results continues, NS&I customers are being warned to change the way in which they access their savings.

The instructions come amid the coronavirus crisis – a time in which the UK has seen a vast number of lifestyle changes in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.

While changes to the lockdown are beginning to be announced in the different countries of the UK, social distancing measures remain.

And, at this moment in time, NS&I is directing customers to change how they would normally access their money.

Click onto the NS&I website, and a pop-up warning can immediately be seen.

It reads: “Before you go any further. We’re working with much smaller teams at the moment.”

The warning goes on to describe how savers can access their account in what’s currently the quickest fashion.

Among the suggestions is to not call NS&I unless absolutely necessary.

Another thing which NS&I is telling customers not to do is to send the savings bank documents – unless the saver has been asked to do so.

The warning reads: “Here’s the fastest way to do what you need to do:

  • Do everything you can online. There may be a short queue before you can log in.
  • Don’t call us unless you absolutely have to. You may have a long wait.
  • Don’t post anything to us unless we’ve asked you to. It’ll take us longer to reply.”

The June 2020 Premium Bonds prize fund reached in excess of £104million.
