The English actress and presenter, who is best known for playing Tracey Stubbs in the sitcom Birds of a Feather, is loved by viewers as a panellist on ITV’s Loose Women. Linda has starred on the chat show since 2012 but took a temporary break from the series in 2019. She made a triumphant return to Loose Women in January 2020, when the mother-of-three spoke candidly about her battle with OCD, depression and anxiety.

Born in the North London borough of Islington, this is still where the TV star resides. 

She lives in a sprawling property with her husband Mark Dunford, now that her three grown-up children – Lauren, Louis and Roberta – have fled the nest.

Located only four miles from central London, Islington is in the North London borough and stretches from the bustling Islington High Street and Upper Road to nearby Highbury Fields to the north, Southgate Road and Essex Road to the east and Barnsbury Road in the west.

In Islington, it’s very much a case of north meets east London. A variety of cool hangouts await, from jazz clubs and upmarket cinemas to the hip and picturesque shopping streets of Camden Passage. 

Once overlooked, improved appearances and infrastructure brought about by the 2012 Olympics have seen this neighbourhood soar in popularity. 

Excellent transport links, proximity to business hubs and schools see families, couples and young professionals all looking to make a home in Islington.

Commuters also love Islington thanks to its great range of transport links which will have you in central London in less than 10 minutes. 

The area’s proximity to large green spaces like Highbury Fields and long stretches of Regent’s Canal, make finding free things to do in Islington no problem. Walkers, joggers, cyclists, and outdoor activists are spoilt for choice.

A perfect lunchtime hub for nearby office workers, Islington is home to Exmouth Market which holds a charming collection of independent shops, restaurants, and cafés. Its semi-pedestrianised layout instils that delightful feeling of wandering or dining along a European street.

At once a concert and live events venue, Christian church and meeting place for various groups and projects, the Union Chapel is a diverse and inspiring place to meet that welcomes everyone.

Despite its urban location, Islington is still home to plenty of outdoor green space including St Mary’s Church Gardens, Islington Green, Barnard Park, Culpeper Community Garden, Astey’s Row Playground and nearby Highbury Fields to the north. 

There are also stunning walks to be had along the Regents Canal with plenty of tempting eateries along the way and the London Canal Museum which is more interesting than it sounds.

It’s not hard to see why Islington is so popular with buyers and renters alike. 

Imposing period homes sit alongside modern new build developments and warehouse conversions, in a range of neighbourhoods that will appeal to all.

Corporate professionals, singles and couples are all drawn to Islington and it’s popular with people from all over the world too, with expats from all four corners of the globe choosing to make the neighbourhood home.

Whilst certainly not the cheapest part of London when it comes to house prices, this just reflects how popular the borough is.

According to Rightmove, properties in Islington had an overall average price of £885,281 over the last year.

The majority of sales in Islington during the last year were flats, selling for an average price of £640,295. Terraced properties sold for an average of £1,511,376, with semi-detached properties fetching £2,125,614.

Overall, sold prices in Islington over the last year were nine percent up on the previous year and 13 percent up on the 2018 peak of £781,508.

Property prices in Islington are varied, with location, size and property type all playing a part in what a home will sell for. As a general rule, properties in Canonbury and off Upper Street will command the highest prices, while towards Caledonian Road and Holloway is more affordable.
