Coronavirus drives e-commerce as 5M new shoppers age 45+ buy online
Coronavirus accelerated retail’s shift from brick-and-mortar to online: CEO
Storch Advisers CEO Gerald Storch said he’s optimistic retailers will get customers back but acknowledged that the coronavirus only accelerated the shift from brick-and-mortar stores to online shopping that was already coming. He also said it’s important for retailers to stand behind their customers and support efforts to combat racial inequality.
The coronavirus pandemic has pushed millions of people to shop online as nonessential stores have remained shuttered for months. In fact, more than 204 million consumers age 14 and older will make an online purchase during COVID-19, according to an updated digital buyer forecast from eMarketer.
